PyramidMDT Celebrates Earth Day 2006

boardwalk picking up trash to support the “Adopt-a-Boardwalk” Earth
Day celebration.
Groton – Trying to stay ahead of a predicted soggy weekend, the staff of Pyramid Marketing, Design & Technology celebrated Earth Day at bit early this year. On April 20th, two days before the “Official Earth Day”, the PMDT crew donned neon green vests and heavy work gloves, armed themselves with mechanical garbage pickers, and headed out the back door to clean the Poquonnock River Walkway. OK – perhaps not your typical office outing… but hey, Pyramid MDT is not your typical design firm!
The driving force behind the spring clean up, other than a desire to make a difference in the community, was to improve living conditions for the many species of wildlife that inhabit the boardwalk area… and yes, to enhance and already spectacular view of the cove for those of us who like to stroll the walkway at lunchtime.
By the end of the day, the crew was able to fill nearly 20 bags of trash, and remove an assortment of old computer parts, TV’s, spare tires, badminton nets and coolers. With the help of the Town of Groton, Public Works and Parks and Recreation Departments, the trash was taken to the recycling facility for sorting.
Pyramid MDT is pleased to be a part of the “Adopt-a-Boardwalk” program and looks forward to fulfilling its obligation as “proud parent” to the Poquonnock River Walkway for many years to come.
Special thanks to Nicki Bresnyan, Executive Assistant, Town Manager’s Office and Stacey Ohlman-Leitch, Solid Waste/Transfer Station Coordinator for their much needed guidance and assistance.
