Local Web and Graphic Design Firm Presents Scholarship

Groton -- Pyramid Marketing, Design & Technology recently hosted their first Chamber of Commerce, Business after Hours gathering. Company President and CEO, Thor Torgersen and his staff welcomed over 100 guests to their corporate offices located at One Fort Hill Road in Groton, Connecticut.
While mingling, guests enjoyed music by local musician James Harris, extraordinary sushi from Peking Tokyo and libations provided by Grand Wine & Spirit. The festivities included several door prizes, one of which was a highly coveted X-Box game system provided by Pyramid MDT, and the announcement of a $500.00 scholarship presentation to be made the following day to Bennett Springsteel, a 2005 graduate of Robert E. Fitch High School.
Springsteel was chosen as recipient of the scholarship for his academic excellence over his past four years at Fitch and his desire to excel in the arts and the field of information technology. He will be attending the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) where he will further his education in the arts.
“I’m very pleased to be able to provide this scholarship -- it’s about giving back to the community,” Torgersen said. “I think it’s critical that we do as much as we can to inspire our youth to strive for excellence and encourage their creativity and imagination as much a possible.”
While describing some of his other awards, which include first place for several Mystic Art Center exhibitions, and having his art chosen for Fitch high school’s award winning “Amphora” an art and literature magazine, Springsteel reflected on what draws him into the arts.
“I’ve always been into art and drawing… it’s just something I guess I’ve always been good at even when I was younger I was always winning the art awards in grammar school,” he said.
Sprinsteel is looking forward to starting his formal education in the arts at RISD and hopes to find himself living in New York City and working in the film industry after graduation.
